HOW TO CHOOSE A WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER

WHAT ARE YOU DRAWN TO?

There are many styles of photography so look at what you are drawn to, is it

light and airy, romantic, or dark and more moody. Which style suits your

personalities best?

Can you imagine yourself in the images of that particular photographer?

Have they captured the wedding as you would love to have yours captured?

many photographers focus on reportage style and others will focus on the

details of your day.

Take a good look as to how they have captured each wedding.

ASK FOR ENTIRE PORTFOLIOS OF WEDDINGS

Depending on the photographers experience you will find they share just their

favourite images from weddings or will showcase entire portfolios of their

weddings. IT IS IMPORTANT that you check out their entire portfolios.

WHY? It is easy to showcase their best images, but they may have only captured

a few from an entire day.

You need to see whole days documented and the standard of their work from

beginning to end. Some photographers maybe great at daylight photography

but lack skills when photographing night time party shots.

By checking out an entire wedding day you will see where their focus lies and

what they are good at and maybe not so good at. Think what is important to

you.

DO YOU GEL WITH THEM?

Your wedding photographer will be with you throughout the day. Do make sure

you get on with them. If you feel awkward and there is no connection or they

make you feel uneasy then this isn't a right fit for you.

Arrange a video call or meet them in person before you book just to check you

are on the same page both in terms of personality and humour, this will be

needed on the day!

DO YOU NEED A SECOND SHOOTER?

Experienced wedding photographers will bring a second shooter if you are

hosting a larger wedding.

If your wedding in different locations and has many details then this is definitely

something you should be investing in to make sure all the details of your day are

captured.

WILL YOU ALSO HAVE VIDEO?

Video is a beautiful way of really capturing emotions during your wedding day

and having an audio too of speeches, etc so ask your photographer if they offer

this service and partner with someone.

It is so important they can work in harmony together during the day and not be

in each others way.
